To all the founding members and contributors and sympathizers of our new association:
First of all, a heartfelt thank you to all of you for the important contribution that each of you has made to this new project in so many different ways. It is not easy to start with a new project, it takes a lot of patience, perseverance, determination. And the support of so many people.
I take this opportunity to update you on how the activities are progressing :
– Web page. It is constantly evolving and being updated, thanks to the tireless work of dear John, our webmaster. For those who haven’t had a chance to open it yet, I’ll send you the link
https://www.homeforstreetchildren.it/
. There have been recent changes, so I urge everyone to check occasionally. Translations into other European languages are now also available.
– Fundraising activity: We are raising funds for what is the first and so far only project supported by our association, namely the project to build a center for street children and other vulnerable children in Kamituga. We launched a crowdfunding effort that started a little timidly but has already seen some contributions even from people outside the close circle of friends and acquaintances, which shows that this project can still awaken general interest. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed in any way. Donations are also possible on the web page and we have just enabled payments via Paypal. Please continue to spread the word about the association and crowdfunding by distributing both links (https://gofund.me/1f35718b)
On May 15 we will have our first activity on behalf of the association, which will allow us to make ourselves known a little in Pisa, a cultural event, namely a reading of literary texts from the biography of St. Francis, with Celtic harp accompaniment, a creation of actor and director Alessandro Braga, who will come especially from Ravenna with his small group of collaborators. The event will take place in the St. Anne’s Church, and will be sponsored by the Alumni Association and the St. Anne’s School Alumni Association. I need your cooperation to spread the event, you will find all the information and the poster on the web page.
– Collaboration with in our partners in Congo. Exchanges are proceeding with our local collaborators to begin electrical and plumbing work. Dr. Darock, director of Mwenga Hospital, who has been in charge of making arrangements with the community and local administration, will go to Bukavu on May 10, and will be able to begin purchasing the necessary supplies. We are still working together to better define some elements of the budget to minimize expenses. For those who still don’t know, on April 17, I signed, thanks to the valuable mediation of Dr. Darock, the letter of agreement with the local community representative (“Chef de groupement”) authorizing us to use the house in Mwenga, built by the republic’s social fund several years ago already, and never used, for the duration of 5 years renewable for our project!

Thank you very much
Dear greetings to all
